Acceptable Use Policy

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AU Policy") governs your use of the Services, including all AI features provided by us. The AU Policy is designed to protect the integrity of our Services and our community of customers. Capitalized terms used but not defined in this AU Policy have the meanings assigned to them in your main agreement with us — the Terms of Use, or the Business Subscription Terms of Service. This AU Policy is incorporated into the terms applicable to your use of our Services. If you suspect any violation of this AU Policy, please contact us at legal@thebrief.ai. This AU Policy may be updated from time to time.

SUMMARY:

  1. Compliance with Laws and Regulations. You are responsible for using the Services in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
  2. Use Restrictions. While using the Services, you may not engage in any of the following actions:
    1. Disrupt or Damage: Take any action that could damage, disable, interfere with the operation of our Services, overload our Services or infrastructure, or circumvent our security or access control mechanisms.
    2. Reproduce or Modify the Services: Reproduce, distribute, publicly display, or create derivative works of the Services themselves without our express written permission.
    3. Reverse Engineer: Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or otherwise attempt to discover the source code or underlying ideas of the Services or any component thereof.
    4. Commercial Exploitation: License, sublicense, sell, resell, transfer, assign, distribute, or otherwise commercially exploit or make the Services available to any third party without authorization.
    5. Engage in Competitive Analysis: Use the Services for performance benchmarking or to build a competing product or service.
    6. Unauthorized Data Extraction: Use any automated means to scrape or extract data from the Services, or use our APIs for any purpose other than their intended use.
    7. Unauthorized Integrations: Connect or integrate the Services with any unauthorized third-party software or systems.
    8. Automated Access: Access, search, or use the Services through automated means (including spiders, robots, crawlers, or data mining tools) other than through The Brief's provided interfaces and tools.
    9. Malicious Activity: Transmit viruses, malware, or other malicious code through the Services, or use our Services as attack infrastructure to deliver malicious executables, organize denial of service attacks, manage command and control servers, or support harmful or unlawful attack campaigns.
    10. Unauthorized External Access: Use our servers to disrupt or gain unauthorized access to external services, devices, data, accounts, or networks, except security testing conducted through our official bug bounty program.
    11. Excessive Resource Use: Use bandwidth that is significantly excessive in relation to other users of similar features, place undue strain on our infrastructure through repository storage or other activities, or engage in any conduct that negatively impacts system performance or availability for other customers.
    12. Security Circumvention: Circumvent, disable, or otherwise interfere with security-related features of the Services or features that prevent or restrict use or copying of any content or enforce limitations on use of the Services or the content therein, including any payment mechanisms or subscription limitations. You also may not use a virtual private network (VPN) to circumvent geographic-based pricing or content access.
  3. Content and Activity Restrictions. While using the Services, the following content and activities are prohibited:
    1. Illegal, Harmful or Abusive Conduct: You may not upload, input, post, store or share any content or engage in any activity that:
      1. is unlawful or promotes unlawful activities;
      2. promotes or encourages discrimination or hatred against any protected class based on race, ethnicity, religion, disability, gender, age, sexual orientation, or other legally protected characteristics; 
      3. promotes or engages in terrorism, harassment, violence, or any other illegal activities
      4. is sexually obscene or relates to sexual exploitation or abuse, including of minors;
      5. is libelous, defamatory, or fraudulent;
      6. harasses or abuses another individual or group, including our employees, officers, and agents, or other users;
      7. threatens or incites violence toward any individual or group, especially on the basis of who they are;
      8. gratuitously depicts or glorifies violence, including violent images;
      9. is off-topic, or interacts with Services features in a way that significantly or repeatedly disrupts the experience of other users; or
      10. contains excessive animation, flashing elements, or other features that could potentially trigger photosensitive conditions in viewers.
    2. Deceptive or Misleading Practices: You may not use the Services to create, share, input, post, or store any content or engage in any activities that are knowingly false, inaccurate, or intentionally deceptive. Prohibited conduct includes:
      1. False or Fraudulent Content - Publishing or distributing content that is knowingly false, fraudulent or intended to deceive;
      2. Misinformation and Public Harm - Spreading content that could reasonably harm the public interest (including health, safety, election integrity and civic participation);
      3. Misrepresentation - Misleading others about the source, nature, or authenticity of content, including AI-generated content, or concealing that content is AI-generated where disclosure may be required; and
      4. Impersonation - Pretending to be another person, company or organization without authorization.
    3. Intellectual Property and Authenticity: You may not:
      1. Upload, input, post, store or share any content that violates any proprietary right of any party, including patent, trademark, trade secret, copyright, right of publicity, or other right; or
      2. Unlawfully share or use unauthorized product licensing keys, software for generating unauthorized product licensing keys, or software for bypassing checks for product licensing keys, including to extend a free license beyond its trial period.
    4. Spam and Inauthentic Activity: You may not use the Services to create, share, or promote spam or engage in inauthentic activity. Prohibited conduct includes:
      1. Unsolicited Communications - Sending bulk, automated, or otherwise unsolicited messages, advertisements, or promotions;
      2. Fake or Misleading Accounts - Creating, operating, or using fake accounts, bots, or other automated means to impersonate others or misrepresent identity;
      3. Manipulation of Engagement - Artificially inflating or manipulating popularity, ranking, or engagement metrics (such as likes, follows, stars, or ratings);
      4. Coordinated Inauthentic Activity - Organizing or participating in coordinated campaigns that mislead others about the source, purpose, or authenticity of content or interactions;
      5. Phishing, Fraud, or Deception - Using the Services to trick others into providing sensitive information or to engage in any fraudulent scheme; or
      6. Incentive Schemes - Promoting or engaging in activities tied to cryptocurrency mining, airdrops, token giveaways, or similar incentives that encourage inauthentic use or engagement.
    5. Misuse of Personal Information or Sensitive Data: You may not:
      1. Use personal information without authorization or in violation of applicable laws or our Terms; or
      2. Use the Services to store or process sensitive personal data subject to specific regulatory requirements (including, but not limited to, protected health information (PHI), payment card information (PCI), financial account information or government-issued identification numbers without the Brief’s prior written consent and appropriate contractual arrangements.
  4. Enforcement. We may, but are not obligated to, monitor how you use the Services for abuse. If you violate this AU Policy, our Terms, or any other applicable rules, we may take action at our discretion, including removing content, suspending your account, or terminating access to the Services.
